Lesley Richmond I create textiles that suggest organic surfaces by changing the structure of the fabric rather than imposing a design on the surface of the cloth. The 'Leaf Cloth' series is inspired by the fragility and elegance of leaf skeletons, using layering and chemicaI processes to celebrate the disintegration and regeneration in nature. In the Lace Cloth series I am interested in the growth structures of natural forms and how they have inspired artists and artisans to imitate, stylize and adapt them for decorative purposes. My work is the subject of volume 40 of the Portfolio Collection,by TELOS Art Publishing which profiles textile artists from around the world.
