Techniques also include hand-dying, hand-spinning, crochet, beading, shibori, and felting. Hand-knitting has a tradition of individual expression and originality of design, and this guides Julie's work. Inspiration is often found in nature but executed with an understanding of contemporary functionality. Her designs respect the properties of the fibre and incorporate the colour theory developed over years of practice as a watercolour artist. Julie conducts workshops and lectures on designing hand-knit works of art. Her work has been exhibited in Canada and South Korea. |
