I began as a painter but found in cloth, stitch and dyeing the best medium in which to express my artistic vision. I am attracted to architectural drawings, in particular the older renderings that are done by hand, giving them a unique character and depth. Some of my work I consider meditative, with soft layers of colour inspired by drawings in graphite or India ink on linen. Other works have a stronger feel conveying the strength, the hard edges and the unusual angles of buildings.

All my work is hand constructed and hand stitched. I use natural fabrics - silk, cotton and linen - and often dye my own thread. My methods of working are traditional but my aim is to achieve works with a contemporary feeling, representing my interpretation of architecture's Futuristic style.

I enjoy working large to convey the space of contemporary buildings. Leaving the edges raw is a deliberate way to express freedom of movement both in architecture and art.
