Hilary Young has had a successful career since graduating with a BA (Honours) from Edinburgh Art School, Scotland, specializing in Textile Design. Winning many awards and selling her designs around the world as a surface designer, she continues to create exciting multi-media textiles.

Hilary's work explores a variety of surface design techniques that manipulate the fabric by concentrating on printing, transferring images, cutting, modifying and burning. Hilary loves to create fabric that has a 3D element by building imagery in layers of illusionary depth and movement. By concentrating on unusual embellishments, sheer fabrics and a rich colour palette, especially gold and silvers, she has found her fabrics to have a precious and ethereal quality.

Her work has been exhibited in Germany, Italy, Scotland and at the prestigious New Designers show in London. Hilary has taught workshops in Scotland and now lives in Vancouver where she teaches at Maiwa Handprints, Capilano University and Vancouver Island Art School.
